Pro Bono

Individual. Local. Small. These are the hallmarks of our client base. From McHenry County to the greater Chicago area and beyond, we offer intellectual property legal advice to clients ranging from mid-sized firms to scrappy startups and solopreneurs. Helping our neighbors and giving back to our community is a large part of what defines us at Hibbs Law, LLC.

That is why we devote a significant portion of our time to offering pro bono services to help local startups or individuals who want to make an impact but don’t have venture capital funding to afford superb legal advice. Our goal is to provide 20-30%  of our time to assisting smaller companies and sole proprietors in need by providing top-notch legal services in order to protect their intellectual property and goodwill, while reducing liability risk.

Currently, we work with low-income inventors via the USPTO Patent Hub program and with select local nonprofit organizations.

We also give talks throughout the Chicago area on topics pertaining to Intellectual Property law and other topics.

Here are some examples of our pro bono initiatives so far:

Service Highlights

HEALTH LAW

Chicago Women’s Health Center

“Genna has been an incredible resource for our organization. In the complex world of health care regulations, she has been invaluable as a navigator and advisor, helping us to ensure that we are not only compliant with regulatory requirements but that we also have strong measures in place for the safety of our clients and the overall health of our organization.”

Leslie Fiedler

Clinical Services Director, Chicago Women's Health Center

TRADEMARK

Prevent Coalition against Youth Substance Abuse

“Youth in our community (State of Washington) created a marijuana prevention messaging campaign called, ‘Weed Can Wait’. In order to protect the integrity of the message, our team decided to trademark the message. Ms. Hibbs provided pro bono consultation and assistance in navigating the intellectual property rights laws, ultimately assisting us to trademark two campaigns. We are incredibly grateful for Ms. Hibbs’s kindness, professionalism, and expertise.”

Joy Lyons

Prevention Intervention Coordinator, Prevention and Youth Services.
